Mae Schendel: see Mae Zahl

Mae (Schendel) Zahl (Biology, 1935)

Mae died on February 26, 2010 at age 96. She was employed at the Mayo Clinic as a medical technician and then taught high school science and physical education for three years. In 1939 she married the Rev. Willert Zahl, and together they worked as partners in ministry at five churches. In 1973, Mae and Willert volunteered their services for six months to the Alaska Conference of the United Methodist Church and for six months to the church's Red Bird Mission in Kentucky. She traveled to every continent, including Antarctica and the North Pole. She is survived by two brothers, Lyndon '42 and Stanley. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother Floren '37, and two sisters, Verla '39 and Betty Smith '46. [5/10]
