Tim earned a PhD in chemistry and did postdoctoral research at Parke-Davis in Ann Arbor, MI. He then accepted a teaching position at the University of Wisconsin's Milwaukee Area Technical College. He is also president of the Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy. The Burch family lives in Franklin, WI.

Peter has been named policy advisor at the Office of the Secretary General, Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi. After earning his BA in biology from NCC, Peter worked for a period of years in ex situ conservation in zoos and aquaria before returning to academic studies. He went on to earn a MA in International Environmental Policy from the Monterey Instutute of International Studies and has since worked on marine and environmental policy in numerous national and international capacities.
