Ian is enrolled in the graduate program in Entomology at Montana State University. For his thesis, Ian will do a taxonomic revision of a beetle genus in the family Zopheridae.

Scott completed an MS degree in Ecology at John Carroll Univeristy in 2004. He is now in a PhD program at the University of Wisconsin in Cell and Molecular Biology. He is studying the effects of alcohol on neural crest formation to aid in understanding the effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Veronika received her M.D. from Loyola University. She completed her medical residency at Indiana University and practiced internal medicine in Carmel, Indiana. She is now completing a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Wisconsin.

Renee Girault (Biochemistry, 2001)

Renee has been working for Sigma-Aldrich in St. Louis since graduation and recently joined the Molecular Research and Development group to work in the hot area of RNAi. She is also working toward a master's degree in biochemistry and biotechnology at the University of Michigan-St. Louis.

After two and a half years working as technician in a molecular biology lab in Chicago, Sabrina "grew weary of being poor" and got a foot in the door at Bank One (now JP Morgan Chase) as an assistant vice president for their Corporate Real Estate group. She has since been promoted to vice president and has worked in the Production Assurance group as Change Manager for the past two years. She misses the days of being the in the thick of science, however!

Amanda got her master's degree in soil science from the Natural Resources Dept at the Univeristy of New Hampshire, then decided on a career change and graduated with a BSN from the University of Dubuque's nursing program in 2008 (see photo). She is now an RN at BroMenn Healthcare in Bloomington, IL, where her husband, Dave, is Assistant Professor of Horticulture at Illinois State University.

Jenny worked for several years for the Indiana DNR as the Program Specialist for Indiana's Lake Michigan Coastal Program, administering grant programs for environmental improvement along Indiana's coastline. In 2012, she became Superintendent for the City of Portage (IN) Parks and Recreation Department. Jenny lives in Burns Harbor, IN and invites anyone interested in environmental concerns around Lake Michigan to contact her. Jenny married Nate Orsburn, a Wildland Firefighter for the National Park Service on February 17, 2005.

Effie is in her last year of medical school at the Univ. of Wisconsin and was recently married. In addition to her MD degree, she is completing a master's degree in Population Health. She plans a residency in obstetrics and gynecology.

Erin has been working at the same company since graduation, a small toxicology company in Chicago's South Loop. Her son, Aidan Daniel, was born in June 2007.

Jen is in the graduate program in Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Fall 2002. Her emphasis is on plant biology and ecology. Along with her courses and research, she teaches introductory biology labs (looks like all those terms of lab assisting for BIO 100 finally paid off!).

Undergraduate research is supported by donations from friends and alumni through the Endowment for Student Research in Science.
