Career Opportunities

Graduates from North Central College who majored in chemistry or biochemistry have gone on to both graduate and professional schools or directly entered the workforce. Below is a sampling of career paths of recent chemistry majors.

Graduate Schools

Thinking about graduate school? The online resource Planning for Graduate Work in Chemistry will guide you through the process. It provides advice from the American Chemical Society on how to prepare for successful work in graduate school, how and when to apply for admission, and what to expect once enrolled in graduate school.

Another valuable resource is DGRweb which is the searchable online database of the ACS Directory of Graduate Research. This tool lists over 665 academic departments, 10,858 faculty members, and 88,983 publication citations. DGRweb allows students to further explore the research interests of faculty members and gather other helpful information about departments.
