Why Interactive Media?

IMS blends the study of art, science and culture into a major that responds to the ways we function in this high-tech, high-touch environment.

Since interactive media involves almost every sensory perception, it requires a truly interdisciplinary approach. North Central College has assembled faculty from various fields including art, computer science, broadcast communications and English and print journalism to support the eclectic curriculum needed to prepare you for this emerging field.

Introduction to IMS

Interactive media students learn to merge various digital media (text, graphics, video and audio) in a computer environment so users can interact with it by reading, watching, listening to and, in the case of your iPhone, touching. Interactive media includes the Internet and websites, streaming audio and video, multimedia presentations, virtual reality, 3D animation and video games, to name a few.
